A Million Diyas, One Nation’s Spirit: The Story of Diwali 2025

This Diwali didn’t just light up homes — it lit up wallets too. To be honest, it felt like Goddess Lakshmi didn’t just knock on doors this time she scanned the QR code and walked right in. The nation declared — “This time, we’ll spend with joy!”

According to a report by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), India recorded a massive ₹6.05 lakh crore in trade this Diwali. Just imagine — if all those currency notes were laid out in a line, they could probably reach the moon and come back!

Out of this, about ₹5.40 lakh crore was spent purely on goods — clothes, sweets, diyas, decorations, gifts, TVs, mobiles, and everything that screams, It’s Diwali, brother!” The remaining ₹65,000 crore went into services — taxis, hotels, food, travel, and events. In short, both the shopping bags and the suitcases were full this Diwali.

The Glory of ‘Made in India’

One trend stood out this year — 87% of shoppers chose Indian-made products. “Made in India” lights ruled the market, while Chinese lights quietly declared themselves “out of stock.”. The smiles on small shopkeepers’ faces said it all as if someone had repaid not their EMI, but the debt of happiness. From Delhi’s Sadar Bazaar to Jaipur’s Johari Bazaar — one line echoed everywhere

“Bhai, the stock’s gone! Next batch arrives tomorrow.”

“This year’s fireworks deserve a reel!”

That ₹6 lakh crore figure isn’t just about money — it’s a reflection of the country’s mood. It shows that even after challenges, when India smiles, that smile boosts the GDP too. Because here, every diya doesn’t just drive away darkness it takes a bite of gulab jamun, shoots an Instagram reel, and lights up a lot of faith that –

“Next Diwali will be even brighter.”
