She Swings She Scores We Ignore The Truth Behind Women’s Cricket in India

There’s a field somewhere, where under the blazing sun, drops of sweat shine on the grass. The crack of the bat echoes, the ball kisses the earth and soars into the air and India’s daughters the Indian women’s cricket team, are fighting with all their strength in the blue jersey. Yes, they’re playing — in the World Cup!

But sadly… no one’s watching.

If this same match were being played by the men’s team every house would have the TV on, every mobile would be showing live scores, the streets would fall silent, and social media would roar with one chant “Jeetega India!” (India will win!), But when the same country, the same jersey, the same tricolor is carried by women onto the field, our eyes suddenly look elsewhere.

Why?

Is their sweat less salty? Is their struggle less real? Or is it simply because they are “girls”?

Each of these players has done the same —early morning practice, battles with injuries, living away from home to play for the nation. One fulfilled her father’s dream, another pawned her mother’s jewelry to buy a bat, another carved her worth by rising from a village ground to this world stage.
But today when they play — for the country, where is the country?

The stadium seats are empty, the cameras have turned to other channels, and people seem to have forgotten that a Women’s World Cup is even happening —where our daughters are putting their hearts into every ball to defend the honor of blue. Yes, this is not just a game —it’s the voice of “I can do it too.” Every run, every wicket, every catch is a message that women aren’t just writing stories —they’re writing history on the field.
Sometimes, think about it these are the very moments that will one day be written in books that when the whole world turned away, they still played. They searched for victory among fading attention, tired hopes, and empty stands. And perhaps one day, when the next generation asks —“Where were people when they were playing? ” we will all bow our heads in shame.

Because today…
they are playing —
but no one is watching.

Will you watch the next Women’s World Cup match?
